A three-bed house in High Wycombe is heading to auction for £200,000 – but buyers will have to reckon with one major problem.
The property on The Quadrant, near Walton Drive and Totteridge Recreation Ground, will be sold via online auction by McHugh & Co on Tuesday, October 29.
While it looks innocuous enough from the outside, the three-bed house’s interiors need some serious TLC – with photos showing extensive deterioration of walls and ceilings, with several floors collapsing into the rooms below.
The auctioneers tactfully acknowledged the dire state of the property by describing it as “requiring modernisation” – with a rear garden also in disrepair, littered with overgrown plants and miscellaneous pieces of wood and plastic.
According to legal documents, the semi-detached house was handed over to an administrator in July and details of the listing include plans to turn it into a six-bedroom house of multiple occupancy (HMO).

Up for grabs as a freehold vacant possession for those looking to get their hands dirty, the unit also has features to recommend it, including an off-street driveway and the remnants of an entrance hall, kitchen/dining room and utility room on its ground floor.
They may not be functioning at the moment, but there are also would-be toilets on each floor alongside three bedrooms on the second level.
