Motorists in Marlow have been reminded to park ‘considerately’ after several drivers placed their cars in disabled bays despite not having a blue badge.

On October 8, PCSOs on patrol in the town were alerted to a handful of vehicles in the Fieldhouse Lane Car Park, where four cars had taken up space in the bays without displaying the necessary paperwork/.

This comes after a disabled driver was forced to park elsewhere due to a lack of space.

They then informed the authorities who were nearby.

In total, four motorists were given a £30 fine for their actions.

Thames Valley Police South Buckinghamshire said: “Please park considerately and help ensure those entitled to use the bays can use them.”

According to Uswitch.com, over 175,000 fines were distributed to motorists in the UK for parking in disabled bays in 2020.

The worst hit area outside of London was Milton Keynes in North Buckinghamshire, with 5,962 PCNs (penalty charge notices) being given.

Manchester was second with 5,799 fines and in third place was Leeds, with 4,753 fines for the misuse of disabled parking spaces.

Barking and Dagenham in London was the worst hit area, with the local council dishing out 3,714 PCNs across a 12-month period.
