Sarah, Duchess of York, visited a bookshop to sign copies of her new children's book.

The author and philanthropist was at Gerrards Cross Bookshop on October 12 to greet fans and sign copies of 'Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods.'

The signing was alongside illustrator Denise Hughes.

The date coincided with Bookshop Day, an annual celebration of high-street bookshops across the UK.

Sarah, Duchess of York, said: "This morning has been very special because not only have I been able to meet readers alongside my incredible illustrator partner, Denise Hughes, I’ve also been able to spend Bookshop Day at one of my local independent bookshops, Gerrards Cross Bookshop, and meet the incredible team of booksellers.

"Bookshops are such an important part of a local community - a place where everyone is welcome and do lots of amazing work like taking authors into schools and running events, book clubs and storytelling mornings that bring people together and inspire children to read.

"And there is nothing quite like getting a personal recommendation from an expert bookseller and spending time browsing through the shelves."

'Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods" is a festive picture book about community and sustainability, following Flora and Fern on a snow-filled woodland adventure as they prepare for a festive party.

The book champions determination and friendship through an ensemble of animal characters and is aimed at young readers aged three and above.

"Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods' is the first in a new series from New Frontier with a second book to follow in 2025.

The book not only reflects the Duchess of York’s commitment to children’s literacy and storytelling, but her passionate advocacy of sustainability.

It aims to encourage children to appreciate the natural world around them.
