BBC presenter and former chancellor of Buckinghamshire New University Jay Blades has denied engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his wife.
The 54-year-old, who resigned from his chancellor role at the High Wycombe university after the charge was brought against him in September, entered a not guilty plea at Worcester Crown Court today, Friday, October 11.
It alleges that the Repair Shop host engaged in controlling or coercive behaviour towards Lisa-Marie Zbozen between January 1, 2023, and September 12 this year.
Ms Zbozen announced that the pair’s relationship was over in an Instagram post on May 2.
Blades appeared before the Recorder of Worcester, Judge James Burbidge, this afternoon.
Wearing a dark suit and tie, he spoke only to confirm his identity to the court clerk and to enter his plea.
The star was only appointed the role of chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University last year after studying at the Wycombe campus in the early 2000s.
However, a spokesperson for the university confirmed that he had resigned from the role “with immediate effect” last month.
They added: “We thank Jay for his loyal service to the university and will be making no further comment.”
