The general manager of a Princes Risborough restaurant said he is ‘over the moon’ after his business picked up three awards in the space of a week.
Radhuni, which is situated along Church Street in the town, was crowned the ‘Champion of Champions’ at this year’s Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards [the ARTAS] - the highest honour an establishment could win at the ceremony.
They also won the South Central Restaurant category, just days after they were named the best restaurant in Buckinghamshire at the Tommy Miah's International Indian Chef of the Year Award.
Manager, Aktar Miar, said that the ‘efforts’ of his team ‘have been recognised’ and that he thanks the numerous customers who have supported the restaurant since it opened 16 years ago.
He told the Free Press: “We are truly honoured.
“We have lots of customers that come from places outside of Risborough, as we get people coming in from Aylesbury, Chinnor, Amersham, High Wycombe and even Oxford.
“My team work really hard as we are keen to make our customers happy with the food we produce.
“So to win three awards in a short space of time is brilliant.
“We’re all over the moon as our hard work is being recognised.”
Radhuni were notified about their nominations several months prior both award ceremonies took place this month.
For the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards, the establishment needed to get their customers’ feedback as part of their nominations, with their reviews being sent to the awards’ organisers.
This played a huge part in their win, as the organisation received countless of positive testimonies which praised the restaurant.
The thousands of online reviews also helped in their favour, with Radhuni having an average score of 4.5/5 on both Google and TripAdvisor.
Their popularity also saw them get crowned as best restaurant for the South Central category at the same ceremony.
One week before, one of their chefs was invited to take part in a cook off in Cambridge, where they won the Tommy Miah's International Indian Chef of the Year Award.
Mr Miar added: “To be crowned Champion of the Champions at the ARTAs was something we were not expecting.
“It is quite the achievement so we are very proud and we can’t thank all of our customers enough.
“We have been here for 16 years and the last few years have been difficult.
“First there was Covid, then the credit crunch and now the cost-of-living crisis.
“But people are still coming to use and we can’t thank them enough.”
The restaurant first opened in Risborough back in 2008, and as well as dishing up award-winning food from India and Bangladesh, the establishment also boasts a cocktail bar.
