The Lord Mayor of London visited Burnham Beeches for a special tree-pollarding event.

The annual ceremony marks the saving of the trees by the City of London from development in 1880.

Despite 'challenging' weather, the Lord Mayor and invited guests pushed on with the day's tasks.

The Lord Mayor, alongside Councillor Mimi Harker, Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council, officially opened the updated Sensory Trail.

This new attraction features eight tactile sculptures by artist Nick Garnett.

These sculptures include a QR code, to inform visitors about the species that live in the park.

The main event was the Lord Mayor pollarding a beech tree, which now joins over 1,000 young pollards in the nature reserve.

These trees are set to become ancient veteran pollards in the future.

The Lord Mayor also met with the park's Conservation and Community Engagement Rangers, Josh and Jordan, and saw the British white cattle that graze there.
