Dashcam footage shows the moment a car overturned on the M40 in Buckinghamshire last night, leaving a teenager in hospital with serious injuries.
Police were called to the motorway stretch between Beaconsfield and Loudwater at 10:26pm on Monday, October 7, after reports of a serious collision between a BMW X5 and a Prius.
A spokesperson for the force said the BMW driver, a man in his teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries – and dashcam footage from the moment of the incident shows how it all unfolded.
It was captured by Azhar Ahmed, 29, who was driving back to Wycombe after a day’s work in Uxbridge when the crash happened right in front of him.

The dashcam video shows the BMW veer across the carriageway from the far-right lane before dramatically overturning.
Azhar, who pulled over after witnessing the crash and waited for police to arrive, said it had been “shocking” to watch and happened “really quickly”.
He added: “It looked really bad. When the car pulled in front of me, I thought, ‘That doesn’t look right’, but after it hit the safety barrier, all it took was a few seconds for it to be on the other side of the road.
“When I was driving on the motorway this morning, I kept looking around thinking something else might happen. It was scary."
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue crews reportedly rescued one man and two women from the cars involved in the collision, with one girl already out of a vehicle and uninjured when emergency services arrived.
The M40 was temporarily closed by police while the rescue and clean-up operation took place.
It marked the fifth major incident on the motorway through Buckinghamshire since last Wednesday, with two other crashes on the A404 near High Wycombe adding to a disruptive and tragic weekend in the county.
A spokesperson for the AA told the Free Press this morning that the spate of multi-vehicle crashes – something seen across the UK-wide road network in the last week – was likely due to “bad weather, poor driving conditions and darkness falling earlier”.
They added: “Drivers need to get a grip on what is needed to meet these challenges. That includes monitoring their speed when conditions demand it, leaving more space between them and the vehicle in front and allowing more time for journeys.”
If anyone witnessed last night's incident or has dashcam footage, they are asked to contact Thames Valley Police quoting reference 43240483000.
