Buckinghamshire Scouts has welcomed a new Chief Scout.

Dwayne Fields, who recently took on the role, expressed his commitment to helping young people develop future skills, just as the Scouts did for him in his youth.

Mr Fields said: "Scouts gave me belief in myself as a child, when I needed it most."

Mr Fields also highlighted the importance of volunteers in delivering opportunities for young people.

"We can only offer these great opportunities if we have enough adult volunteers to deliver them," he stressed.

He expressed pride in the Scouts in Buckinghamshire earning their Chief Scout’s Awards, and hopes to present some of these personally.

Mr Fields also acknowledged the role of Scouts in fostering community spirit.

"The team in Buckinghamshire are creating brighter tomorrows for a new generation," he said.

The Chief Scout concluded by urging Buckinghamshire's communities to welcome as many young people as possible into the Scouts.
