One of the top restaurants in Amersham has recently been given a new food hygiene rating.

Tom Yum, which has been ranked the 11th best in the town according to TripAdvisor, now boasts a five-star rating.

Inspectors visited the Sycamore Road venue on September 17 this year, and marked their food hygiene/safety, along with their confidence in management as ‘good’, whilst their structural compliance was ranked as ‘very good’.

The business, which specialises in serving ‘authentic’ Thai food, has come a long way after they were given a score of two five years ago, making them just one of five establishments in Amersham to start the 2020s with a score below three.

The restaurant has since improved and are now regarded as one of the best in the town, which can be backed up by the countless positive reviews and testimonials that have been left online.

On Google, Tom Yum has (as it stands) an average rating of 4.5/5 from 324 reviews, whilst on TripAdvisor, they have the same score (4.5/5), but from 427 evaluations.

This includes 271 users rating the restaurant as ‘excellent’, whilst 117 people described the establishment as ‘very good’.

One review on TripAdvisor from July this year reads: “We’ve been aware of this restaurant for many years but have been wary of ‘hot Thai’ food.

“Starters are beautifully presented and the main courses we chose were all excellent with well balanced flavours.”

Another review, this time from February, reads: “Fabulous food and service, thanks to all for a great evening.

“We have the set menu which was very nice indeed and served with a smile.”

The reviews were also very favourable on Google.

One from March reads: “Lovely small family restaurant, beautifully decorated with a Thailand atmosphere.

“Great service, we ordered a variety from the menu and shared.

“Everything was delicious.”

Another reads: “The food quality and the authentic taste of Thai are the main features of Tom Yum.

“A good place for family or small group dinner or for couples.”

Following their recent inspection, Tom Yum is now one of 30 restaurants, cafes and takeaways in Amersham to be handed a five-star hygiene rating this calendar year.
