A free sci-fi event is set to take over Aylesbury Library and the town centre.

Aylesbury Sci-Fi Day will see a number of events take place in the town centre and at Aylesbury Library on Saturday, October 19.

It will be the last of the family-friendly events that form part of Buckinghamshire Council’s ‘WhizzFizz on Tour’.

The day will celebrate the wonders of science fiction, fantasy, and superheroes, with activities such as prop exhibitions, artist workshops, quizzes, comic book stalls, games, and more on offer.

People will also get the chance to meet some of their favourite superheroes.

Councillor Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: "Aylesbury Sci-Fi Day is going to be out of this world - perfect for fans of sci-fi, fantasy, superheroes and comics of all ages, and it’s free.

"It’s important to us to give all children in Bucks the chance to enjoy cultural events and activities, so we’re delighted to be able to bring this event to Aylesbury.

"And with many of the activities taking place indoors, it’s a great choice, rain or shine.

"With support from local communities and businesses we’ve been able to put on an array of events across the county over the summer as part of WhizzFizz on Tour, including the Grand Re-opening of Chesham Library and a new festival for High Wycombe, Wycombe Celebrates."

The event has been organised by Buckinghamshire Council, Rekindle, Buckinghamshire New University, and community groups and businesses.
