A major route between Marlow and High Wycombe was closed for nearly 20 hours after a serious multi-vehicle crash.
Police shut off access to the A404 southbound carriageway between Marlow and the Handy Cross roundabout just before 7am on Friday morning, October 4.
They described it as a "serious injury road traffic collision" involving multiple vehicles.
And, while emergency services provided updates on the state of the scene throughout the day, the dual carriageway wasn't completely reopened until 2am this morning, Saturday, October 5, according to National Highways.
Locals navigating the closure said they were stuck in queues for up to five hours and police warned drivers of "heavy congestion" around Marlow and Wycombe as a result of the incident.
Motorists forced to contend with the delays took to social media to describe the route as "gridlocked carnage" and "utter chaos".
Thames Valley Police and the South Central Ambulance Service have been contacted for an update on casualties from the crash.
