A man in Buckinghamshire has put forward plans to create a gym, sauna, music and games room in his back garden.

Rakesh Sheimar submitted his plans for the project at 35 Thorney Lane South in Iver to Buckinghamshire Council last month.

A letter from his architects reads: “Mr Sheimar and his wife would use this home gym likely every other day but at least once a week.

“Other family members would also use this space in association with the main house – e.g., their children are currently practicing and learning to play the drums and piano.

“Whilst this is an electronic drum setup, emitting controllable low-level headphones volume, its use is better suited to a space a little distant from the main house.”

The letter adds that the new space could also be reorganised to create a space for homeworking if there were to be another Covid-19 lockdown.

Plans state that the outbuilding could provide the Sheimars with a space ‘away from their home environment’ to work for their respective employers.

Parking would be unaffected by the proposed new structure in the back garden, while there are no changes proposed to the main property.

The gym and children’s music room area would allow a maximum of two or three members of the family to practice for at any one time.
