There was a unique site for driving along the A404 on Thursday afternoon, as a man was spotted riding an electric unicycle.

The moment was captured by an eagled-eye member of the public who was along the Marlow/Maidenhead stretch of the road in the afternoon of Thursday, October 3.

The anonymous motorist said: “He has a death wish.

“Who drives a unicycle on a busy carriageway with lorries at school rush hour?!”

Electric unicycles, along with electric scooters, are considered as ‘e-rides’ or (electric rideables), and whilst many can be spotted all over the country, there are illegal to use on roads or public spaces.

According to the Metropolitan police, it is not ‘currently possible’ to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters, which makes them illegal for UK roads.

The Met said: “If you don't have a licence, or the correct licence, or are riding without insurance you could face a Fixed Penalty Notice.

“Forces set and enforce penalties differently, so the penalty will vary depending on where the offence is committed.

“If you cause serious harm to another person whilst riding an e-scooter the incident will be investigated in the same way it would if you were riding a motorcycle or driving a car. “
