Lee Hyde, 25, left HMP Sudbury in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 1.
He is currently serving an 18-month jail term for burglary and was convicted at Aylesbury Crown Court in June 2023.
As well as having connections to the Thames Valley, he also links to areas in Northamptonshire, Middlesex, West Drayton (London), and Lincolnshire (mainly Lincoln).
He has been described as a white male, is around 6ft 1ins tall, of medium athletic build, with brown hair and blue eyes.
