Home of the James Bond franchise Pinewood Studios is winding down its TV production arm after a drop of revenue in the sector.

A source at the studio complex, based in Iver Heath, told Deadline that its television department – which has hosted productions including RuPaul's Drag Race and Taskmaster – would be closed in 2025, ending its servicing of the "light entertainment TV market".

They added: “This does not affect TV shows already booked for 2024 and 2025, nor does it affect any other film or TV productions at Pinewood’s sites. We have started a consultation process with colleagues who are affected.

“We are very proud of the work the TV team has delivered over the years, having hosted many major titles for the UK’s broadcasters.”

Pinewood, which is better known for its big-budget film productions including 007, Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy, has also been the base for popular TV series Would I Lie To You and Disney's Andor, shot near Marlow in 2022

According to data from the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (PACT), the UK TV production sector suffered an 8.4 per cent drop in revenue in 2023 – still well above pre-pandemic levels.

The studio previously submitted plans to upgrade the Grade-II listed Heatherden Hall on its site in August to accommodate its “long-term use” as a film set, and an £80 million expansion of the complex was approved by Buckinghamshire Council in early 2023.
