The Bucks Bangla Festival 2024 saw the celebration of Bangladeshi culture in High Wycombe.

The event, held at the Royal Grammar School attracted hundreds of attendees who enjoyed a variety of activities, from cultural performances to sporting competitions.

Families were able to enjoy a range of activities, including a bouncy castle, and a live fire brigade display on the festival grounds.

The festival featured 25 stalls offering everything from traditional Bangladeshi food, clothing, and beauty products to toys and grocery items.

Popular stalls included Tiger Garden, Mojo BD, and ARK World Food.

Bangla folk music and performances by artists such as Gouri Choudhury and Tariq and Friends' Band also featured.

Festival-goers enjoyed various games, including a 29-Card Tournament, Ludo Competition, and Art and Fashion show for children.

The winners of these competitions were announced during a prize-giving ceremony attended by Cllr Nathan Thomas, the Mayor of High Wycombe.

The winners included Priya Das (ladies ludo competition), Sobuj and his team (29-card competition), Maisha (fashion show), and Zarif (art competition).

The mini football tournament was a highlight, and the Dhaka Dragons were crowned champions of the adult tournament, while Shapla City took the youth title.

The festival concluded with a raffle draw, offering prizes to lucky winners.

The top prizes included two meal vouchers from Mr India, one MOT from Chiltern Motoring Company, and a Tostar appliance.

The festival was sponsored by Tiger Garden Marlow, Everest Foods, and Oxford College, as well as, Mojo Soft Drinks BD, Kutchenhaus High Wycombe, and Polaris Law and Solicitors.

The festival culminated in a Charity Gala Dinner from 6pm to 8pm, attended by Cllr Mimi Harker OBE, Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council, and her Consort, Mr. Robin Harker.

The gala dinner featured a musical program, followed by the serving of food, and award ceremony.

Cllr Mimi Harker OBE led the award presentations, joined by notable figures such as Masud Ahmad Khan, ex-BBC Bangla producer and journalist; Zulfikar Rahman, solicitor; Jubaye Baby, Head of Islam Channel Bangla; Bosir Ahamed, Businessman; and Saidur Rahman Bipul, leader of the Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA).

Together, they recognised individuals who have contributed to the promotion of Bangladeshi culture, education, and community activities.

The awards handed out during the ceremony included BBF Scholar of the Year, awarded to Barrister Mohammad Azharul Hoque; BBF Uplifter Award 2024, presented to Rupi Amin and the Dartford Shopto Sur Bangla School; and BBF Community Star 2024, given to Kazi Zahirul Islam.
