Passengers travelling between London and parts of Buckinghamshire will face disruption this week while National Rail carries out emergency repairs after heavy rain.
Chiltern Railways has warned those heading to and from London Marylebone today and tomorrow, September 26 and 27, of daytime closures to the route, in effect between 9:35am and 3:35pm each day.
The “emergency short-term engineering works” are impacting the routes between London Marylebone and Aylesbury, via Amersham, and between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough.
Rail replacement buses are available between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham (for connection with Metropolitan Line services) and between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough.
Tickets valid via Amersham will be accepted on the London Underground between Amersham and Baker Street in both directions.
Network Rail said the emergency work involves an examination of 13 miles of track between Aylesbury and Amersham to identify and repair emergency cables which are impacting signalling between the two stations.
The damage is reportedly due to heavy rainfall earlier this week.
Tony Baxter, operations director at Chiltern Railways, said: “I’d like to thank customers for their patience as Network Rail carry out crucial emergency repairs near Aylesbury this Thursday and Friday.
“The works are vital to ensure continued safe and reliable journeys for customers travelling in the area following the severe weather we have experienced this week.”
