Nearly £1,500 has been raised for two hospices following the passing of a much-loved woman from Great Missenden.
Sarah Buckthorpe, who was known in the area and was a huge fan of Wycombe Wanderers, sadly lost her brave battle with cancer on August 21 this year.
A statement from her family reads: “Our beautiful daughter, granddaughter and sister Sarah Louise Buckthorpe, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday August 21 2024, at the Florence Nightingale Hospice.
“As a family, we would like to thank everyone for their love and support over the past three years during her fight against cancer.”
Numerous messages of condolences and support were sent to Sarah’s family, with a JustGiving page being set up to raise much-needed funds for two local hospices in Rennie Grove and Florence Nightingale Hospice.
Both establishments played a huge role in Sarah’s final moments.
A page was set up in the aftermath of her passing with an initial £500 goal being set.
However, thanks to the local community, an incredible £1,495 has been raised at the time of writing.
The page reads: “Rather than buy flowers the family wishes for any donations to go to Rennie Grove and the inpatient unit at the Florence Nightingale Hospice in Stoke Mandeville.
“We would like to provide the money directly to the charities so they can buy some equipment in the memory of Sarah.”
