A pub in High Wycombe has been forced to close for the fourth time since 2020 after flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
The Harrow, on Warrendene Road in Hughenden, first experienced bad flooding in August 2020 after blocked drains and water build-up in the valley overwhelmed the building's defences.
Landlady Karen Norton was forced to close it in similar circumstances in October 2023, then again in February of this year – which, with six inches of water in the bar area, was the worst she'd seen it in nearly seven years at the helm.
And this morning, Monday, September 23, Karen and her team were once again left with no choice but to shut The Harrow to customers after fresh flooding following a night of heavy rain across the country.
Taking to social media earlier today, the proprietor said: "Sadly, The Harrow pub will be closed today and maybe tomorrow, depending on whether the fire brigade can find somewhere to pump the water out to.
"Until they do, we can't clear up and since it's still pouring with rain, I doubt that's going to be any time soon. This is now the fourth time we've flooded in the past four years."
The recent bad spell of weather has impacted services across Buckinghamshire this morning, with an amber alert for rain still in force as of 12pm.
