A plan to turn an ‘eyesore’ pub in a Buckinghamshire village into 16 flats has been thrown out after planners could not get in touch with the applicant’s agent.

This is just one of the many applications considered by Buckinghamshire Council during the past seven days.

Conversion of pub and hotel thrown out, Marlow Road, Cadmore End (22/07693/FUL)

An application for permission to convert the former Bluebell pub and hotel into 16 apartments has been ‘disposed’ of by the council.

In a decision on the plans this week, officers wrote: “There has been no contact from the applicant’s agent since 15th March 2024. It is therefore proposed to finally dispose of this application.”

Officers said they had advised the that the original submission was ‘not acceptable’ and told them which details needed to be changed for the proposed development to be recommended for approval.

But they claimed that the application had ‘not been actively pursued’ by the applicant, Vertex Pinnacle Investments Ltd and could therefore be disposed of, given the length of time that had passed.

The Bluebell, which Vertex said was ‘becoming an eyesore’, is understood to have been known previously as the Tree and also the Blue Flag.

The outline permission that was sought by the applicant included plans to build side extensions to the main building, an official change of use of the former hotel and pub and six one-bedroom, six two-bedroom and four three-bedroom apartments.

Demolition of property and new replacement home, 7 Grenfell Road Beaconsfield PL/24/1237/FA

Mr and Mrs Ahmadi have been given permission to knock down the existing house on Grenfell Road and replace it with a new five-bedroom property.

Floorplans for the new three-storey house show a games room, entrance hall, coat room and a TV and media room.

The applicants’ plans read: “The house has been designed to respect the local character in the traditional arts and crafts style with a palette of high-quality vernacular materials which include a soft red brick, plain clay tiles, lead rolled dormer windows and light stone detailing.”

Dozen signs for electric go-kart track, 1 Newlands Meadow, Eden Shopping Centre, High Wycombe (24/07089/ADV)

TeamSport, the UK’s largest indoor go karting company, has applied for permission to attach 12 signs to the sides of the Eden Centre before it opens on the floors above the new Primark on November 1.

The company is already taking bookings for its new 425m-long, multi-level course, which will see karts whizzing along it at speeds of up to 40mph.

Its plans read: “Overall the proposal will not result in any significant visual harm on the general character and appearance of the area or streetscene, and will not impact upon features of historic, architectural, cultural or similar interest.”
