Parts of the M40 are closed following a crash involving an HGV.

In the morning of September 16, reports were made to the emergency services that a lorry had ‘overturned’ which went through the central barrier near Junction 10.

Whilst this is in Northampton, both sides are closed as rescue workers try and move the wreckage.

This will have an impact on those travelling southbound towards Buckinghamshire, as that stretch of the motorway leads to the A41 near Aylesbury.

Data taken from Traffic England shows there is ‘no movement’ of vehicles between Junctions 9 and 11, whilst a section of the former is completely closed.

A statement from Thames Valley Incident Alerts reads: “The M40 is closed southbound between Junction 10 (Bicester) and Junction 9 (Oxford) following an incident involving an overturned Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV).”

It is not known when the normal flow of traffic will resume along that stretch of the M40.
