The National Trust are offering to dazzle visitors with an autumnal garden display this September to November.

The gardens, all cared for by the National Trust team, are expected to have an end-of-season bloom of dahlias, asters, and anemones, and autumn foliage.

Greys Court's walled garden will feature a series of outdoor rooms that can be discovered through gates and doors in brick walls, their dahlia border near the vegetable garden, and Cromwellian courtyard with its impressive display of flowers.

The parterres at Cliveden, Waddesdon, and Hughenden, with their formal, geometric designs and bright colours will continue to be on display well into September.

As the season progresses, the colour shifts from flowers to foliage, with Basildon Park offering a great vantage point from its balcony to see the autumn colours across the parkland and woodland.

Hughenden, with its typical Chilterns woodlands of beech and oak, offers beech mast and acorns, with lots of short and long waymarked walks to explore.

The Grecian Valley at Stowe Gardens is a highlight of the autumn colour, with copper beech and sweet chestnut trees lining the valley edge. The American area, loaded with red oak trees, liquidambers, and maples expected to be the showstopper this year.

From September 1, the National Trust has also expanded its popular pooch passport scheme to the whole of England and Wales.

Visitors can pick up a pooch passport from any participating National Trust place and start visiting with their dog to collect stamps for dog treats.

Participating places in Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire include Basildon Park, Cliveden, Greys Court, Hughenden, Stowe and Waddesdon. If visitors collect six stamps from different places, they can get a bag of Forthglade treats, with 12 earning a dog snood.

The National Trust will also be offering a series of guided walks and talks this autumn, including wellbeing walks, gratitude woodland walks, and dog walks for visitors.

Basildon Park will be hosting a walk on September 20 and 27 from 11am to 12noon.

On September 18, there will be a dog walk held at Stowe Gardens from 10.30am to midday.

There will be a talk at Waddesdon on September 19 by director Pippa Shirley who will talk about her favourite collection piece.

Chastleton will hold a tour on textiles on September 24 between 1.45pm and 4pm. It costs £25 and booking is essential, this includes tea and cake.

For Your Tomorrow – The People’s Tribute, opens to the public at Stowe Gardens between October 1 – November 11 in memory of those who were killed in the D-Day landings.
