A major roundabout near High Wycombe with links to the A404 and M40 will be closed for over 48 hours this week.
The Handy Cross roundabout between Wycombe and Marlow will be closed at 9pm on Friday, September 13, and reopen at 6am on Monday, September 16.
The closure will shut off the interchange to all motorists, including access to entry and exit roads onto the motorway.
National Highways has warned drivers to expect delays and either change their plans or take an alternative route via John Hall Way, Cressex Road, New Road, Mill End Road, Chapel Lane, West Wycombe Road, the High Street, Oxford Road, Wycombe Road and The Common.
This weekend marks ‘phase one’ of the roadworks project, which will begin to address “the deteriorating condition of the roundabout surface”, with ‘phase two’ consisting of regular weeknight closures from next Monday, September 16, until Saturday, October 5.
The weeknight closures will be in place between 9pm and 6am during the aforementioned period.
The roadworks order, which was approved by Buckinghamshire Council this month, will officially come into operation on Friday, with a maximum duration of 18 months.
