Drivers are facing hefty fines and imprisonment after causing ‘thousands of pounds of damage’ to a car park and engaging in ‘extremely dangerous behaviour’ at a car meet.

Officers in Thames Valley Police’s Roads Policing Unit have identified a number of people involved with an unauthorised car meet in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, that spiralled out of control at the end of August.

“Thousands of pounds of damage” was caused to a car park in the town on Saturday, August 17, with several vehicles driven “in an extremely dangerous manner” – “reckless behaviour” which endangered both the motorists and spectators.

After police arrived at the scene, the drivers fled along with around 100 others who had gathered to watch, before the group reassembled later that night at Magna Park – “behaving in a similar manner and causing disruption to local businesses”.

In the weeks since the car meet, officers have tracked down and seized all connected vehicles from different parts of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London and Essex.

They have also identified the drivers involved who will now face prosecution for dangerous driving, criminal damage and public nuisance offences.

A police spokesperson said: “(The drivers) will soon face court, where they could receive a criminal record, driving disqualification, hefty fines and/or imprisonment.

“We will also seek forfeiture orders for the seized vehicles to ensure they are permanently removed from our roads and crushed.

“If you’re considering coming to the Thames Valley for unauthorised car meets, think again. We will use all available resources to prosecute and remove the most dangerous drivers from the road.”
