Heavy rain is forecast to sweep across southeast England this weekend – with locals warned to keep an eye on weather warnings in their area.
Despite the outlook for South Buckinghamshire appearing fairly rosy at first glance, with temperatures hovering around 21 degrees, the Met Office has warned that last-minute “thundery showers” could impact travel plans today and tomorrow, September 7 and 8.
Saturday is expected to stay largely dry and cloudy after initial mist and fog patches break, with a possibility of afternoon showers and the odd rumble of thunder.
No weather warnings have been scheduled for the county, but the Met Office has predicted some heavy rain overnight, with patchy showers likely to continue throughout Sunday and into next week.
The forecaster said warnings could still be issued for the coming days after heavy rainfall lashed parts of southern England and Wales on Thursday and Friday.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Dan Harris said: “Reminiscent of this time last week, the forecast for later this weekend comes with larger uncertainties than average.
“This is due to a more complex than usual meteorological pattern involving multiple corridors of heavy, locally thundery rain revolving around a slow-moving area of low pressure.
“We are keeping warnings under review and will look to issue them over the weekend as confidence increases, so please keep up to date with our latest forecasts and warnings.”
Cooler temperatures, as low as 13 degrees, are widely expected across the UK next week, with a generally unsettled outlook.
