A Chesham shop owner has thanked his customers for their ‘loyal support’ as he gets ready to host his 100th record sale.

Dale Tames, who owns and runs Collector’s Paradise along the town’s High Street, sells an array of items which include CDs, DVDs, children’s toys, Pokémon Cards and records.

The latter range from 33, 45 and 78RPM, and he hopes his clients will be able to find some ‘surprises’ when they visit his shop on Saturday, September 7.

He told the Free Press: “I started my first in 1998 next door at 42 High Street and I would do four a year.

“I did it to help the customers save money, and these sales are genuine.

“I don’t take the best ones out and rack the prices up.

“I keep my prices fair and give them bargains galore, but when Covid came in, the record sales stopped so I cut down to three.

“This was because it would be too much for the customers to have four.

“Since I’ve been doing that, people have come in and have loved it.”

The businessman has been running his current store since 2015 after he initially began the venture in 1998.

The store has been regarded as a ‘hidden gem’ along the town’s High Street with its range of goods, and his milestone event is expected to be his ‘biggest one yet’.

He continued: “I also mixed all the records up in different boxes, so instead of having them split up based on bands, singers, genres and so forth.

“I do this because when you come into my shop and you look for that one record, you could then stumble upon that one LP you have been looking for, and in some cases, for years.

“That’s the best because, for the customer, it’s a surprise they weren’t expecting.”

Finally, on his customers, he said: “Thank you very much because you have kept me in business.”

His store will open at 9am on Saturday, September 7.
