The heat was turned up at Waddesdon Manor's annual Chilli Fest last weekend thanks to the presence of Dragons' Den legend, Levi Roots.

It was a debut appearance at the Chilli Fest for the celebrity chef and musician, who has recently escaped from the Big Brother House.

He treated the festival, now in its 17th year, to a live set - and warmed up the crowds by offering prizes of his famous Reggae Reggae sauce.

Levi Roots said: "I had a great time at Waddesdon Manor, my first visit but not my last - what a crowd.

"Great to see so many people of all ages enjoy my music."

Elsewhere, this year's Chilli Fest featured chilli-eating competitions, live music, hula hooping, and performances by The Bubble Wizard.

A diverse selection of chilli-inspired treats from a variety of food stalls was available for attendees to try.

Waddesdon Manor, a National Trust property, hosts events suitable for culture vultures, garden enthusiasts, and Christmas lovers on its grounds, as well as the Chilli Fest.

The manor was built at the end of the 19th century by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, in the style of a French chateau from the 1500s.

Waddesdon was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957 to ensure its future, and the Rothschild family continues to run Waddesdon through a family charitable trust.

Until February 2024, it was under the chairmanship of Jacob, 4th Lord Rothschild.

His eldest daughter, Hannah Rothschild, is now the chair.
