Hot off the heels of joining High Wycombe joggers on their parkrun, BBC presenter and Beaconsfield local Vernon Kay could be heading to Scotland for the celebrity spin-off of popular reality show The Traitors.
The TV personality, who took over Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 show last autumn, is rumoured to be joining the psychological-adventure series’ celebrity edition alongside his wife Tess Daly, who he lives with alongside daughters Phoebe and Amber in Beaconsfield.
The BBC confirmed that a star-studded spin-off of the hugely popular show – which divides contestants into ‘faithfuls’ and ‘traitors’ with a huge cash prize at stake – was in the works at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August but has kept tight-lipped on the line-up, although Stephen Fry, Liz Truss and Ricky Gervais are among the names floated so far.
And, according to The Sun, 50-year-old Kay and 55-year-old Daly have also been scouted by the broadcaster, with an insider telling the newspaper it was hoped casting a high-profile couple would replicate the tension between mother and son Diane and Ross in the most recent series.

They said: “Although the famous couple won’t have any secrecy around the fact they are linked, it will still create huge amounts of suspicion and paranoia and really test allegiances.
“Bosses know the intrigue will make for great telly, as they’ve seen how it stirs things up in previous series.”
The insider also said signing Daly up would make for “compulsive viewing” thanks to her friendship with fellow Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, who is attached to front the celebrity spin-off as well as The Traitors' upcoming fourth season.
