The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy and thundery showers across Buckinghamshire – as locals brace for a wet September after the UK’s coolest summer in nearly a decade.
The warning for heavy rain covers all of Buckinghamshire and south-east England and will come into force at 9pm tomorrow, Wednesday, September 4.
It could see up to 55mm of rainfall within two hours in the worst-affected areas.
The forecaster has also warned that spray and sudden flooding on roads could lead to difficult driving conditions and possible road closures, with a chance that public transport will be disrupted.
The yellow warning is set to expire at 9am on Thursday, September 5, but the Met Office has warned that heavy downpours could impact commuter journeys beforehand.

There is also a small chance that homes and businesses could flood and that buildings could be damaged by floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
It comes after the UK recorded its coolest summer since 2015 according to Met Office officials, with a mean daily temperature of 14.37C.
Conditions for the rest of the week are likely to remain unsettled according to current forecasts, with Buckinghamshire likely to experience further outbreaks of rain and thunder – but also a potential resurgence of warmer weather, with highs of 27C on Friday, September 6.
