A 34-year-old man has been arrested after police and fire services were called to an industrial estate in High Wycombe this afternoon.

Staff at businesses in Sands Industrial Estate on Hillbottom Road heard emergency services’ sirens at around 12:45pm today, Monday, September 2.

One employee who wanted to remain anonymous said they had seen a “man in a lab coat” being handcuffed and taken away by police before officers packed up and left the scene.

Another eyewitness said staff at Synergy Flavours, a manufacturer of flavours, extracts and essences, were evacuated as part of the police response.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “This was an incident where a man was in the area acting in a suspicious manner with a gas cylinder.

“The gas appears to have been Nitrous Oxide, and this incident has been safely resolved.

“A 34-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested in connection with the incident and there is no risk to the public.

“No one was injured and no one required medical treatment.”
