A long-lasting volunteer at a local radio station has been given a certificate of thanks after spending 45 years with the cause.

Martin Kinch, who joined Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio in 1979 and has remained ever since, was given his award by the Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Neil MacDonald on August 30.

Mr Kinch, who is a retired postman, presents a programme on a Monday evening showcasing the best tunes from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

His long-lasting show is called ‘Solid Gold’, which first hit the airwaves in 1990.

During that time, he has interviewed numerous well-known faces in the UK music scene, such as radio presenter, Ken Bruce.

Neil Macdonald the CEO of the NHS Trust said: "Martin's dedication and time that he puts in is an amazing example of volunteering and the difference it can make to people's lives.”
