Chiltern Railways has warned travellers to watch out for line closures caused by major engineering works across its Buckinghamshire services this weekend.
The work means the line between High Wycombe and Haddenham and Thame Parkway as well as between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury will be closed on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1.
Rail replacement buses will operate on both days, meaning longer-than-usual services due to the “major improvement” project.
The buses will ferry Chiltern Railways customers back and forth between Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Bicester Village and Bicester North, High Wycombe, Princes Risborough, Haddenham and Thame Parkway, Saunderton, Little Kimble, Aylesbury and Monks Risborough.
The train operator has also urged customers travelling between London Marylebone and Haddenham and Thame Parkway to go via High Wycombe – with those heading to Bicester, Oxford or Birmingham asked to divert through Aylesbury Vale Parkway.
To ease the impact, an enhanced service of two trains per hour will be provided between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway across the weekend.
A spokesperson for Chiltern Railways also reminded those travelling on Sunday, September 1, to consider the closure of London Marylebone until 10:35am when planning their journeys.
They said: “Customers travelling before this time are advised to use connecting services from West Ruislip on the London Underground Central Line and Metropolitan Line services. Additionally, late-night trains on Saturday and early-morning trains on Sunday between Banbury and Bicester will be replaced by buses.
“Customers are advised to allow extra time for their journey, book tickets in advance and check their journey before travelling. Further details can be found on the Chiltern Railways website.”
