A driver in Amersham has been arrested and had their car seized after being caught stealing from a petrol station .
Officers in Thames Valley Police’s South Bucks team were patrolling in Amersham today, Wednesday, August 28, when they were called to a dispute at a petrol station in the town.
A driver was reportedly telling staff they could not pay for the items in the back of their car but, upon seeing the police, did a runner from the station – only to be swiftly apprehended and arrested.
A spokesperson for the force said the motorist, who is being held in custody and whose vehicle has been seized, had stolen petrol “numerous” times before.
They also jokingly described the escape attempt as a “very fuelish” decision, considering his criminal record.
