Marlow residents have welcomed a fish and chip shop’s new dining area, which has been signed off by planning officers at Buckinghamshire Council.
Oysters Fish & Chips shop at number 1 Brucewood Parade, Marlow Bottom, has installed a shipping container-style seating area outside the small but popular restaurant.
Oysters, which has operated for more than 35 years, now provides four tables for up to 16 people to enjoy their fish and chips in its new seating area.
The owners, who purchased the business 16 years ago, said the new seating cabin was open the same times as the chippy itself, from Tuesdays to Saturdays 11:45am – 2pm, 4:30-9:30pm (9pm on Saturdays) and closed Sundays and Mondays.
Council officers approved a retrospective planning application for the new seating this week, following scores of positive comments on the proposals.
Harry Pooni wrote: “We’ve been using the Cabin since it opened as a convenient place to meet friends and enjoy quality food. It has community spirt in abundance, as well as enjoying an affordable meal.”
Meanwhile, Janet Waters added: “It’s brilliant. We walk a distance to buy fish and chips and the cabin has been brilliant so we can eat them fresh then walk home.”
Another resident praised the owners as ‘great’ hosts, saying they had ‘tried hard to improve the facility’ for customers ‘in a very challenging climate’.
