Two orange traffic cones had to be removed from the top of the Everyman Cinema in Marlow after they had been mysteriously placed there.

Pictures show the traffic cones on the bell tower of the grade-II listed building in Market Square yesterday (Monday, August 26).

It is unknown how the cones ended up on the building but images reveal workers had to use a crane to remove the objects from the cinema which opened in September last year.

This comes after Buckinghamshire Council criticised the "dangerous" trend of placing traffic cones on lampposts in the town earlier this year.

Jemma Strange, who lives in Marlow spotted multiple orange traffic cones balanced on lampposts along Little Marlow Road on January 30.

She was also told that similar reports had been made on Glade Road in the town when she told Buckinghamshire Council.

In January, Steven Broadbent, cabinet member for Transport at the council confirmed they had been made aware of "a number of traffic cones being placed on streetlights" at locations around Marlow.

He said at the time: "While this may seem like a harmless prank to some, it is potentially dangerous for both the person putting the cone on the lamppost and also to any pedestrians or motorists who could be seriously injured if the cone fell on them from that height.

"Crews have also had to be diverted away from other important jobs in order to prioritise the removal of these cones, so we would like to ask whoever was responsible to refrain from doing anything similar again."

The Bucks Free Press has approached Buckinghamshire Council following this latest incident.
