Planning officers have officially given the green light for changes to be made to a Thames Valley house that once belonged to musician Ozzy Osbourne and his wife, Sharon.

Documents submitted to Buckinghamshire Council on August 21 show that Beel House, which is situated in Little Chalfont, will undergo a huge renovation after it was purchased by two Russian film titans, Sergei Oleg Yershov and Olga Romanov.

The Free Press had reported in July that the application had been approved on the basis that several conditions were met.

These included not taking more than three years to make the necessary changes, and that no new grilles, security alarms, lighting, security or other cameras or other fixtures shall be mounted on the external faces of the building other than those shown on the drawings hereby approved.

Fast forward roughly six weeks, the approval has been signed off and work is expected to start in the coming weeks.

Changes to the property, which is roughly 200 years ago, include the following:

  • Restoration and refurbishment of the main house and service wing
  • Demolition and replacement of the pool house
  • Demolition of the guest wing and conservatory
  • Demolition of stores
  • Creation of new basement with car parking,
  • External and internal alterations including new finials, cornice, rear rooflight, shutters, new and refurbished windows and doors and works to the gateposts)

The Osbourne’s history at Beel in the Chalfonts

Set on 13.5 acres of grounds, Beel House features four bathrooms, a library, a large indoor swimming pool, a steam room, a sauna, a gym, changing rooms, a tennis court, a croquet lawn, a games room and a deer park.

It had been the home of the celebrity family between 1980 and 1989, with the property gaining national attention as it was the venue for where Ozzy tried to kill his wife, Sharon, whilst high on drugs.

A move 1990s to Jordans in Beaconsfield followed, before they jetted off to the United States, staying across the pond for well over 20 years.

But in 2023, Sharon announced that the family had decided to move back to the UK from US, returning to their mansion in the south of the county.

Beel House’s other well-known occupants have included Lady Caroline Cavendish in the 1830s, Colonel Abram Lyle of the Tate & Lyle sugar company from 1909 to 1920 and the actor Sir Dirk Bogarde who bought it in 1954.
