Plans to build a modern new house in Little Chalfont have been given planning permission by Buckinghamshire Council.
Applicants Mr and Mrs Mehta plan to demolish their existing detached three-bedroom bungalow ‘Silvermere’ at Park Grove off Burtons Lane
The couple will replace the property with a new three-bedroom ‘family home’ with a loft space and create a new vehicle access.
Their plans for the design of the new home read: “The house features an L-shaped floor plan, with a single-story southwest-facing wing that houses open-plan living spaces beneath a sedum-covered green roof.
“A double-height entrance connects to the bedroom wing, which runs perpendicular to the living area. Nestled into the level land, this design incorporates a loft space with dormers —a tranquil room for hobbies or study—without compromising privacy by overlooking neighbours.”
Design documents also state that the new property will have a spacious ‘courtyard’ garden, explaining that houses with courtyards hold a ‘significant place in architectural history’.
The width of the proposed new home will remain the same as the existing building, however, the depth will extend 1.8 meters beyond the current dimensions.
Solar panels will be fixed to part of the roof of the new home, while another section of the building will be covered with a turf-coated ‘green roof’.
