An exciting new production will be coming to a venue near you very soon which is said to bring fun and laughter for all the family.

A fan of Horrible Histories? If you answered yes to that question then this show is definitely for you!

On August 17 to August 18 authentic Victorian characters will be bringing to life the less savoury aspects of Victorian history in this fun family-friendly event at Chiltern Open Air Museum.

Look out for shady characters including the rat catcher and his rats; street urchins; doctor, rogues and vagabonds.

‘The Ragged Victorians’ are an award-winning living history group re-enacting the lower classes of Victorian England, providing an authentic and entertaining impression of what life was like for the majority of the population.

Think plagues, poverty, poor food and everything in between, this show offers an educational insight into a time before any of us existed.

The show acts a time machine rushing the audience back to past dates where all the luxuries we now take for granted are things that have not been yet invented.

Re-enactors from the Victorian British Army Rifle Brigade Regiment will also be part of the event representing the 3rd Battalion at home in England in the early 1850s.

Encamped within a small country village, with a view to exercise the Battalion and attempt to grab some recruits from the local populace.

It has also been rumoured that the local peelers may also appreciate some support from the Regiment due to reports of some down and out characters hanging around the cottages and public houses!

This is a great fun and educational day out for the family: pack a picnic or treat yourself to some food in the cafe and indulge in a bit of history, but watch out for pickpockets!
