A bus provider has warned locals of limited services from the high street and other areas of High Wycombe amid ongoing roadworks.

Residents have complained of being “left waiting” for their bus and being “late to work” in the last week as Carousel Buses suspended all-but-one service from Oxford Street, the High Street and Castle Street, as of July 31.

A spokesperson warned regular travellers that “all buses except for service 30 and PickMeUp cannot serve Oxford Street, High Street or Castle Street until further notice”, asking them to instead “use the bus station (on Bridge Street) as your main bus stop”.

They also apologised for “any inconvenience this may cause”.

The spokesperson told the Free Press that the reason for the diversion was “roadworks in the vicinity of the bus station” which have made it “unsafe for our buses to turn right”.

Carousel took over 14 routes in Wycombe at the end of July after competitor Arriva closed its depot in the town.

It might come as no surprise that improvement projects in the town are having an impact on public transport - Buckinghamshire Council has made the most of what could prove to be a brief respite from the rainy weather to launch or reconvene a number of roadworks in the town over the last few weeks.

Highways improvement projects are currently underway on Lilys Walk and St Mary Street, both concluding today (August 9), with construction work on Crendon Street continuing until August 14.

Stay tuned for updates about when the services will return to normal.
