Chiltern Railways apologised to passengers travelling to and from London after ‘an incident’ on the tracks meant all lines were blocked for over five hours this morning.

A spokesperson for the railway company told travellers to find other routes into the capital this morning after “an incident” on the tracks between Neasden South Junction and London Marylebone resulted in police being called to the scene and all lines blocked.

The incident, which began at around 6am this morning (August 9) caused havoc for some commuters, including those living in Bucks and relying on the service to travel into work in London every day.

The disruption continued into mid-morning, with a spokesperson confirming that all lines in and out of London had reopened at 11:30am, with delays of up to 60 minutes expected while disrupted and cancelled services were brought up to speed.

Tickets for the cancelled services in and out of Marylebone were accepted on Great Western Railway services between Banbury, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington, and on West Midlands Trains between Birmingham New Street, Coventry, Milton Keynes Central, Cheddington, Tring, Berkhampstead and London Euston.

Chiltern Railways has apologised for the delays and encouraged those impacted to see if they are eligible for compensation by filling out a form online.
