A man from Milton Keynes who almost 'scalped' his partner when he tore clumps of her hair out has been jailed for over two years.
Andrew Williamson, 41, punched the woman and threatened her with a knife before stabbing her sofa and her phone during a brutal attack apparently spurred by "jealousy" in Northampton on November 4, 2023.
Shocking pictures show the victim's scalp after Williamson tore her hair out with his hands in front of her two children.
Despite her injuries, the woman was able to dial 999 when Williamson fled the scene and Northamptonshire Police's Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit (DAIU) launched a manhunt for Williamson, who was caught in January of this year.
The 41-year-old was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation and two counts of criminal damage.
He admitted assault but denied the other three offences, which were discharged in a sentencing at Northampton Crown Court.
The Milton Keynes native was jailed for two years and three months, given a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim of the attack and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge.
PC Rachel Powell said: "During our investigation, it became painfully apparent just how much fear and distress Andrew Williamson has caused to this woman.
"This was a prolonged attack that left her with injuries that have affected her both emotionally and physically.
"He ripped out so much of her hair as to have partially scalped her, causing injuries among the worst I have seen in my 20-year career.
"Williamson's violence, threats and intimidation left her feeling scared and powerless to escape him, but thanks to her bravery in speaking up about what he put her through, he admitted his guilt and has been rightly imprisoned for his unacceptable actions.
"This woman deserves nothing but happiness in her future and I hope seeing Williamson plead guilty and rightly go to prison gives her some comfort as she continues to heal and recover."
