Fresh off the Olympic podium in Paris, Helen Glover took a family trip with husband Steve Backshall and their three kids to a popular immersive museum in Chalfont St Giles.
Helen Glover won a silver medal in the women’s coxless four rowing event at the Paris Olympics last week – missing out on a third gold after the Netherlands team beat her and teammates Esme Booth and Sam Redgrave by a razor-thin margin of just 0.18 seconds.
The 38-year-old, who won Olympic titles for Team GB at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 games before taking four years off to start a family with TV presenter and naturalist Backshall, hinted her illustrious career was nearing its end after the race last Thursday.
She said her focus was on “spending time with my family and enjoying being a mum” and was “not really thinking about rowing” for the foreseeable future.
And true to her word, the Marlow Rowing Club alumnus is back in Buckinghamshire, presumably to her home on the Thames just up from Marlow, and already embarking on fun family days out, if a recent trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum is anything to go by.
The famous clan stopped by the museum in Chalfont St Giles on Wednesday, August 7, as part of a “well-earned break” after her recent sporting success.
A Chiltern Open Air Museum spokesperson said: "It was great to be able to congratulate (a) local sporting hero in person. Well done Helen, you're amazing!"
