A leisure centre in Amersham has been selected as a finalist for ukactive Awards’ Regional Centre of the Year.

Chilterns Lifestyle Centre on Chiltern Avenue will be considered for Centre of the Year in the southern England region as well as for National Centre of the Year at a ceremony in October.

The awards are designed to celebrate the crème-de-la-crème of the physical activity sector, particularly recognising “excellence and innovation” across the categories of health, wellbeing and fitness.

The Chilterns Lifestyle Centre was picked as a finalist in recognition of its state-of-the-art facilities which include a 15-station gym, two swimming pools, a climbing wall and a spa.

The next steps will be a series of assessments including a digital review and mystery shopper-type inspection.

Steve Salwa, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be shortlisted for the ukactive Awards and this reflects the hard work and dedication the site team has put in over the past year. They have done a fantastic job.

“To be selected as a finalist is an achievement in itself and we’d like to thank all of our members for their ongoing support. We look forward to October’s awards ceremony and in the meantime will continue to focus on getting the local community active.”

Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “Being shortlisted for the ukactive Awards is testament to the fantastic work of the team at Chilterns Lifestyle Centre. It’s an honour to be considered for this prestigious national award, and we extend our gratitude to all our members for their ongoing support. As we look forward to the awards ceremony in October, we remain committed to promoting an active and healthy community.”
