A family farm shop near High Wycombe has received two gold stars for four of its products – including sirloin steak, whole milk and a beef roasting joint - in the annual Great Taste Awards.
Laceys Family Farm is among the Buckinghamshire-based businesses recognised by The Guild of Fine Food in its Great Taste Awards 2024 – a round-up of the best-tasting food and drink products around the world today that is commonly described as the Oscars of the hospitality industry.
Over 3,000 companies from around the globe submitted more than 13,000 products for judging and blind tasting from an expert panel of food critics, chefs, buyers and other specialists in the field.
Laceys Farm, a family-run business in Lane End that has been operating in some form since the 19th century, scooped four two-star awards for its products, cementing their status as ‘above and beyond delicious’, just below the coveted three-star mark, awarded to ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink’.
The farm, which is run by twins Will and Ed Lacey, 34, submitted their own-brand topside beef roasting joint, whole milk, sirloin steak and double cream for evaluation – and weren’t disappointed by the results.
In a statement posted to social media, they said they were “absolutely thrilled” to take home the four awards, describing them as “a testament to the quality of our fabulous dairy and beef cattle and the high standards (to which) we care for them”.
Adding: “Our cows are loved, and the taste shows it!”
Independent business Haynes Gourmet, based in Marlow, was also handed a two-star prize for its red candied jalapenos.
And High Wycombe-based Wycombe Chefs Table was recognised in the two-star category for its Shichimi Togarashi, Japanese 7 Spice and its Za’atar Middle Eastern Herbs Mix.
The peppermint tea from Chesham-based Two Spoons Tea Ltd was also awarded two stars.
