More than 200 people attended Chesham's inaugural Walk-in Free Health Awareness Day.

The event took place on July 20 at the town’s Elgiva Theatre and in the space of just five hours, hundreds of people from the area and beyond visited.

In all, 30 health care providers, professionals and guest speakers enjoyed a day filled with invaluable information and engaging activities.

Endorsed by the Mayor of Chesham, Mr. Francis Holly, the walk-in day served as a fundraiser for the Helen and Douglas Charity.

It featured discussions with healthcare professionals, exhibits from healthcare organisations and insightful talks by guest speakers in cutting-edge health research.

Notable participants included the Helen and Douglas Charity, Dementia Care Respite Charity, The Samaritans, Hospice of St Francis, Back-in Action, Barchester Health Care, Be Healthy Bucks and many more.

Spearheaded by Mr. Parveiz Aslam MBE, this initiative addressed the critical need for accessible health checks.

He said: “Many people, including my younger family members, have expressed concerns about the affordability and accessibility of healthcare.

“I am proud that these family members, now esteemed professionals in the medical field, volunteered their time and expertise for this cause.”

Community members expressed how valuable and enjoyable the event was, highlighting its importance in promoting health awareness.

Mr. Aslam continued: “By bringing together various elements of healthcare and making them accessible for free, we provided an invaluable opportunity for the public—adults and children alike—to engage in brief discussions with professionals, receive advice, and learn about the latest research developments in the health industry.”
