Temperatures will reach 25C on Sunday ahead of a heatwave hitting parts of Buckinghamshire early next week.
Despite what has been, at times, an uninspiringly cloudy and drizzly summer, all hope is not yet lost.
The sunny weather experienced by South Bucks areas including High Wycombe this week will hold steady today (July 27), with temperatures rising to 25C on Sunday and predicted to reach 30C on Tuesday, July 30.
It comes as the Met Office confirms that parts of southern England will likely reach “heatwave criteria” in the coming days.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office David Hayter told the PA News Agency: “As we go through the weekend, the jet stream will weaken to the west of the UK, generating an area of high pressure that will slowly move (across the country).
“High pressure means the air is sinking from higher in the atmosphere (which) brings dried, settled and sunnier weather. Temperatures will rise too, becoming widely above average.”
The Met Office’s long-range forecast then suggests that temperatures will dip to around 24 degrees towards the end of next week, signalling a warm but cloudy start to August.
