A forthcoming cocktail and tapas bar in Buckinghamshire has set out plans to sell alcohol and play recorded music until 1am.

Syrup Bar London’s plans for a new premises licence for 24-26 Oxford Road, Denham were considered by a Buckinghamshire Council licencing committee this week.

The new business will be located within a row of commercial and retail units set back from the main road, according to the plans.

It has applied for permission to sell alcohol on and off the premises and to play recorded music indoors from 11am 11pm Sunday to Thursday and from 11am 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Some residents have raised concerns that the new business will put pressure on parking provision in the area.

A written objection from Jo Reilly read: “The parking in the parade is barely adequate for the existing shops already present and is restricted, making parking for an evening out not viable/possible.

“The venue is not able to provide additional parking facilities as there is no additional land so this will potentially cause parking issues on the Oxford Road.”

Applicant Sam Sandhu addressed parking concerns in the meeting of the committee.

He said: “There is obviously ample car parks within the town within a 10-minute walk. Barring British weather at the best of times, you might need a brolly, but there are car park spaces available.”

He added that he wanted to build ‘rapport’ with residents and that he ‘wanted the business to work’.
