A village church near High Wycombe has recently received an award to celebrate its eco-friendliness.
Christ Church Flackwell Heath picked up the Eco Church Bronze Award as part of a special service on July 21 thinking about their response to the climate crisis.
The award, given by A Rocha UK, reflects the progress Christ Church is making to reduce its impact on the environment, including taking the first steps towards moving to net zero and helping the church engage with the associated challenges of our changing world.
Liz Bellamy, chair of the church's eco committee, presented the certificate to Phil Simpson and Karen Christie, churchwardens at the church.
Revd James Dwyer, Vicar of Christ Church, said: "This is a great achievement for us as a church, and I'm so grateful for all the work Liz, Phil, Karen, and the eco committee are taking to help us move towards net zero.
“We know that our climate is changing rapidly, and it's important that as a local church, we are asking what we can do.
“The Bronze Award is a great start, but we are keen to keep working to achieve silver and then gold, and in the process take some significant steps towards being an eco-friendly church."
