BBC Weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has described her wedding at Cliveden House in Bucks as ‘beautiful and very romantic’ - apart from when it was almost ruined, ironically, by a thunderstorm.
Kirkwood tied the knot with partner Steve Randall in a small ceremony at the historic venue in Taplow in December.
The 61-year-old Scot told The One Show this week that it had been a “fabulous” day and came off without a hitch despite a minor factor that she of all people should have seen coming – the weather.
Talking to host Alex Jones, Kirkwood said: “It was perfect, it was a small intimate wedding (and) was very beautiful, very romantic but there was a storm, can you believe it? Storm Gerrit!
“When we booked it, obviously it was a bit in advance, so we didn’t know there was going to be a storm. I was watching it in the lead up to the wedding, thinking: ‘Nooo!’ But on the actual day, we didn’t even notice it!”

The TV star also spoke about her big day on BBC Breakfast earlier this year, saying: “You shouldn’t really be talking like this about your own wedding, but it was blissful, it was romantic, it was absolutely perfect.
“I would not change a thing about the day. We are both so incredibly happy.”
Not much is known about Carol’s husband Steve, 47, but she’s previously said he’s “extremely handsome” and never fails to make her laugh.
“He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it’s 2.45am,” she told Prima Magazine. “He often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses.”
Kirkwood was previously married for 25 years to businessman Jimmy Kirkwood before they divorced in 2008.
