A playground in Marlow has been closed to the public while filming takes place this morning.
A drizzly start to the day hasn’t deterred production crews from setting up camp in the playground at Higginson Park this morning (July 25), with the area cut off from public access until 11am.
Filming season appears to be well underway across the county and while Buckinghamshire Council hasn’t confirmed the nature of this morning’s temporary closure, it is likely to do with shooting for the second series of locally based murder-mystery series The Marlow Murder Club.
The drama, adapted by UKTV from resident novelist and screenwriter Robert Thorogood’s book series of the same name, saw record-breaking success for the broadcaster after its first series aired in the spring.
Its second outing will follow trio of sleuths Judith (Samantha Bond), Becks (Cara Horgan) and Suzie (Jo Martin) as they investigate "a seemingly impossible murder inside a locked study", "an unexpectedly brutal accident at the prestigious Marlow sailing club", and more.
Buckinghamshire Council warned residents that the recently refurbished playground in Higginson Park would be off-limits today in a statement published to its social channels last week.
A spokesperson said: “On Thursday, July 25, the playground will be closed until 11am to facilitate filming. In addition to the playground being closed, the production has also been permitted to close the pathway from Pound Lane to the playground.
“The fee received from this filming will be used towards maintaining the park facilities (the park is owned by the Higginson Park Charity and is funded through the income it generates).
“We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The second series of The Marlow Murder Club is expected to air on the rebranded U&Drama channel in 2025.
